Ophthalmology Residency – Duke University He is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Retina Specialists, Club Jules Gonin, Macula Society, Retina Society, Association for Research in Vision in Ophthalmology, and the International Society for Eye Research, and serves on the Executive Committee of both the American Society of Retina Specialists and the Retina Society. He has been named to America’s Who’s Who in Medicine, The Best Doctors in America, The Best Doctors in the Southeast and Hour Detroit Magazine’s Top Docs. He has been actively involved in resident and fellowship education for more than 20 years, and serves as Co-Director of the Associated Retinal Consultants Vitreoretinal Fellowship Training Program. He is Co-Director of the Vision Research-ROPARD Foundation, overseeing the clinical research initiative at ARC. He is currently a Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Oakland University, and Professor at the European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology, Lugano, Switzerland. He has authored or co-authored over 200 publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, book chapters, and publications from clinical trials. Capone is an internationally recognized clinician, surgeon and educator. He is a board certified ophthalmologist whose special interests include pediatric vitreoretinal diseases, complicated retinal detachment, ocular oncology and macular disease.ĭr.
